OASIS AWARDS TARGETED BY ORGANISATION RUNNING SCAM

The Oasis Awards Company and it’s founder Roney Henderson has been targeted by online fraudsters trying to con gospel artists out of thousands of pounds. An organisation set up an email scam inviting international artists to the UK to perform at the Oasis Award with the promise of a fee, in order to obtain the credit cards details and bank account information.

In July 2007 a number of USA based artists responded to an email which was an invitation to perform at the Oasis Awards for a fee. The email was sent from the address oasis.awards@yahoo.com by an individual or group pretending to be the organiser of the Oasis Awards. A number of these artists were suspicious at the content and sent an email to Oasis Awards via the website.

Yahoo! were contacted and blocked and deleted the email address. Unfortunately this has not stopped the people behind this scam who created a new email address award.oasis@yahoo.com and last week founder of Oasis Awards Roney Henderson, was sent an email by a concerned agent who wanted further details so went to the Oasis website and sent an email using the address on the press release.

“Both the police and Yahoo! have been contacted and the latter will be investigating the matter further to take the necessary legal action. One agent who forwarded the invitation to me, was extremely upset because these individuals were being very assertive in requesting credit card and bank account details to secure travel arrangements” commented, Roney Henderson

She went on to further comment “the invitation also stated that the group will be paid after their performance which would have been a nightmare if a group came to the UK expecting to perform. I have seen the email to a group promised fifteen thousand pounds. Even then I had not realised how far things had gone until an agent representing an A List gospel artist wanted me to confirm details and to top it all the email reply address is roneyhenderson@yahoo.co.uk an address which has nothing to do with me. I hope the culprits are caught”

Any artist or agent who has received an invitation to perform at the Oasis Awards should forward the email to info@oasis-awards.com so that it can be forwarded to Yahoo! and be part of the ongoing investigation.

OASIS AWARDS RESCHEDULES FOR AUTUMN 2008

The UK's leading Gospel music awards ceremony, the Oasis Awards, has announced that the event will return in Autumn 2008 to honour the achievements of the growing UK Gospel industry.

The current ceremony was originally slated for November 2007 as part of another major Gospel event but due to logistics and time constraints, the executive board at the Oasis Awards made the decision to hold back till 2008.

With this in mind it has been discussed and agreed by O3 events and their partners that the Oasis Awards will go ahead a little later than schedule,to autumn 2008." "It is with regret that I inform you that the Oasis Awards has had to be postponed till late 2008 " says Oasis Awards president and CEO of o3 Media (the events company behind the Oasis Awards), Roney Henderson.

The Oasis Awards will also undergo a revamp to its format, opting to return to its original status as an up-market industry affair taking place at a top London hotel.

The Nominations Reception has also been moved to late 2008. Nominations are currently open and will continue with a new closing date to be set. The official awards ceremony date along with some of its key performers and presenters will be announced later this year.
